We support over 500 charities and businesses across England and Wales, with HR, Payroll and DBS Checks (previously known as CRB checks).
What’s different about us? We know not one size fits all!
Our clients value the time we take to get to know their business needs, so we can ensure the advice we give is tailored to meet those needs. They also appreciate the personal relationships we develop. When we recently asked for feedback from our clients about the service, it was lovely to hear so many people mention our team by name.
So, who’s behind the services?
Human Resources
Kate and Nicola are both MCIPD accredited HR consultants. Combined, they have over 40 years’ experience of advising and supporting charities, social enterprises and business from a variety of sectors, including retail, hospitality, leisure, manufacturing and within the VCSE sector.
Kate is our Lead HR consultant and joined the team in 2013, bringing a pragmatic, solution focused approach. She is passionate about delivering an outstanding service and building excellent client relationships. She is a keen cook, gardener and loves enjoying the great outdoors with her 2 Norfolk Terriers.
In addition to HR, Nicola also has a postgraduate certificate in Personal and Business Coaching and experience of providing Coaching services internationally. Nicola provides tailored HR solutions using her experience, skills and knowledge of general HR, personal and business coaching, employee relations and engagement, training and wellbeing. She brings integrity, pragmatism and humour! Outside of work, Nicola enjoys walks in the beautiful Norfolk countryside, car drives/shows, reading and good food…don’t we all 😊.
Payroll Services
Nigel and Steve bring experience of working within the public, private and charity sector. What they don’t know about Payroll, isn’t worth knowing!
Nigel, our Payroll Manager, has been with CBR Business Solutions (formerly Charity Backroom) since 2012. With over 25 years’ experience of working in various payroll environments, Nigel has been instrumental in growing the service and ensuring our clients benefit from an efficient service, that complies with regulations. When not processing payroll, Nigel enjoys photography, cars/driving/track days/shows and a spot of gardening.
Steve joined the Voluntary Sector following 30 years with Aviva. Coming from a commercial background he is aware of the pressures involved in running an organisation and enjoys taking some of that pressure off clients by assisting with their payroll responsibilities. Steve is a fan of progressive rock and gardening, although hoping for the sake of his neighbours, not at the same time!
DBS Checks
Will and Liz work in partnership with the largest provider of criminal record checks in the UK, to bring you Basic, Standard and Enhanced DBS Checks.
Will originally gained a degree in Communication Studies and worked extensively within the private, public and charity sector before joining the team in 2010 as a counter-signatory. As our DBS Lead, Will has processed thousands of applications for a large number of organisations across the Country, from a wide variety of sectors. He is an avid supporter of Tottenham Hotspur, no further comment…. 😉
With a degree in Office Studies and coming from a customer service background, Liz joined the team in 2018. She has loved the challenge of getting to grips with the complexities surrounding checks and helping clients to understand the language and legislation. Liz has a love of the sciences and enjoys increasing her knowledge with further reading and studying.
