About Opening Doors

Opening Doors is a user led self advocacy charity run by and for adults with learning disabilities in Norfolk.

We support people with learning disabilities to have their voices heard, make their own choices and have more control over their lives. You can find out more at www.openingdoors.org.uk

We are looking for an organised and supportive person to join our small and friendly team as our Office Coordinator.

About the role

This is a varied role helping to keep Opening Doors organised and running smoothly.

You will provide practical administrative support to our staff, members, volunteers, Management Committee and Trustees.

Your work will include:

  • Answering phone calls and monitoring our general emails.
  • Keeping files, records and contact information organised and up to date.
  • Helping organise meetings, training, groups and events.
  • Booking taxis and transport for self advocates.
  • Taking and sharing meeting minutes and actions.
  • Helping with social media, mailings, photos and other communications.
  • Keeping attendance, feedback and project information up to date.
  • Providing administrative support across the charity.

An important part of this role is spending 3 hours each week working alongside a paid colleague with a learning disability. You will support them to carry out their work, learn new skills and build confidence and independence.

We are looking for someone who is organised, patient and approachable, with good communication and digital skills. You should be able to manage different tasks, work independently and work well as part of a small team.

You do not need to have worked with people with learning disabilities before, but you should be committed to our values and willing to learn.
