About the Role
DIAL Great Yarmouth is seeking a Money and Debt Advisor to provide impartial, confidential and accredited advice to residents experiencing financial difficulties. You’ll work directly with individuals and families, helping them reduce debt, manage household finances and access essential support.
This role combines face‑to‑face advice, outreach work across the Borough, and partnership working with local agencies. Some Saturday working is required on a rota basis.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing money and debt advice to people facing financial hardship
- Liaising with creditors and arranging sustainable repayment plans
- Supporting clients with budgeting, income maximisation and benefit checks
- Assessing client needs and managing case records in line with FCA requirements
- Referring clients to specialist services and emergency support
- Delivering outreach sessions in community and neighbourhood settings
- Keeping up to date with financial legislation and best practice
About You
You’ll have experience supporting people with money and debt issues, ideally within the voluntary or community sector. You’ll be empathetic, organised and confident working with vulnerable and disabled people.
You should have:
- Strong communication and IT skills
- Knowledge of debt, housing and welfare benefits
- The ability to manage a varied caseload independently
- A commitment to equality, confidentiality and professional standards
- A full driving licence and access to an insured vehicle
- Qualifications in money advice, debt relief orders, or membership of the Institute of Money Advisers are desirable (or a willingness to work towards them).
