MAP is a charity providing free and independent advice, counselling, youth work and education for young people.

Join MAP in supporting young people across Norfolk

At MAP, we are advisers, counsellors, youth workers and other professionals working together to provide the best support we can to young people aged 11-25, in a way that works for them.

At MAP we work for social justice. We are an inclusive workplace, welcoming everybody to bring their authentic whole selves to work every day. Upholding equality at MAP is not only about eliminating discrimination; it is about actively recognising and valuing difference; making the most of everyone’s potential.

We are excited to be in the position of recruiting a Mental Health Adviser for our Norwich Hub, delivering impartial and confidential mental health advice sessions for young people accessing our ‘open access’ advice drop-in’s every week alongside face-to-face and telephone/remote appointments.

Our NHS-approved service provision offers young people living in the Norwich and Norfolk area the following: a triage of presenting needs, advice on managing mild-moderate mental health symptoms, safety planning when required – and referral to our counselling offer and/or referrals to other sources of support (both internal and external).

We are looking for an individual who can effectively deliver mental health advice while maintaining excellent communication with the Duty Senior and wider advice service to maintain our countywide service standards.

The role will require attendance of monthly service team meetings (two of these each year will be face-to-face based in other parts of the county), attendance of online Mental Health Adviser meetings and casework meetings, regular attendance of monthly clinical supervision and active participation in other professional development opportunities such as monthly line managements and all-service training.

This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

If you have any questions about the role please contact Georgie Murdoch, Advice Service Manager at georgiemurdoch@mapyoungpeople.org.uk.
