Trainees: Mainly in the Waveney area but other positions across Norfolk
Qualified: Across Norfolk, however we would also welcome applications for remote/home working.

The Wellbeing Service is part of the national IAPT programme, aimed at helping people across Norfolk and Waveney aged 16 and over, who are experiencing mild to moderately severe anxiety and depression. It is a well-established partnership between Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) and Mind.
We are seeking a number of well-motivated individuals to join us as Qualified or Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs). PWPs provide high volume, low intensity psychological self-management interventions which are based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and form Step 2 of the stepped care model, as recommended in NICE guidelines. Much of the work is telephone based and cCBT (computerized CBT), and delivery of workshops and webinars is also a key part of the role. Although IAPT treatments focus on mild to moderately presentations, the role will also involve assessing people with more severe and enduring difficulties, and referring them on to relevant services.
Experience of working with clients with anxiety and/or depression, and of managing a caseload in a previous role is highly recommended. However, for those without relevant experience, please do apply as we may also want to talk to you about the role of Assistant PWP, which can be an excellent introduction to clinical roles within the service.
This is a fast-paced and challenging role, as you will be working with people with high emotional demands, so you will need to be able to manage your own emotional wellbeing. Successful applicants will therefore need to already have a high level of skill in the following areas:
- A commitment to delivering high quality client care
- Ability to demonstrate resilience when working with clients that are experiencing varying levels of emotional distress
- Able to adapt to change
- A positive and solution focused attitude
- Good administration and IT skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills relating to the number of client contacts offered and clinical sessions carried out each week
- Capacity to work under pressure
- High level of enthusiasm and self-motivation
- Ability to work and problem solve independently
- Access to a car, or alternative ability to travel independently
- Ability to work at any location across Norfolk
- Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings
The training (which is fully funded) consists of either the Post-Graduate or the Under-Graduate certificate (depending upon prior qualifications) in Evidence Based Low Intensity CBT at the University of East Anglia (UEA), although some of the training days take place near Cambridge. In all cases, training requires weekly attendance over one year at the University of East Anglia (UEA), starting in September 2020, therefore the successful applicants will need to be available for that time. Annual leave cannot be granted during taught days unless in exceptional circumstances, so if you have holiday commitments please let us know when applying. Those taking the under-graduate training will need to complete the UEA’s online Access to IAPT module prior to commencement of the course.

Interviews will take place on Microsoft Teams and will be a two-part process. Should your application be successful you will be invited to attend a first stage panel with a therapy roleplay, feedback, a presentation, and questions (approx. 45 minutes). If you are successful in this panel you will then be asked to attend a formal interview (approx. 60 minutes). Please see dates as below.
