We have an exciting opportunity to join us and become part of our Routes Employment Service.
70-90% of people with mental health issues would like to work, but only 37% are in paid employment. For people with severe mental illness, it’s just 8%.
Routes employment service is funded by NHS England and the role of ESA is fully integrated within the CMHT (Community mental health teams).
The role of Routes is to support people accessing secondary mental health services, meaning people with severe and enduring mental health conditions into paid employment.
We use the evidence based IPS model which is a worldwide initiative that has proven results since it began in America in the 1990s. It demonstrates that when a person is motivated to work, it is imperative that employment happens sooner rather than later. This is a model which works with clients on a rapid basis. Our eligibility criteria is as follows:
- Accessing secondary mental health services
- Has the desire to work and be paid
We are looking for target driven advisers who are able to manage a challenging yet rewarding caseload of 20-25 clients.
You will be comfortable with carrying out face to face and telephone employer engagement as well as encouraging clients to do the same.
You will have ongoing training and development as well as supportive supervision from both Routes and CMHT.
This is a lone working role. You should be trustworthy, comfortable working peripatetically with autonomy and have exceptional organisational skills.
Flexibility is key. You may be asked to cover other areas from time to time.
Norfolk and Waveney Mind is a leading mental health charity and we won’t stop until everyone with a mental health condition has the voice they deserve.
